This thirteen-day trip combines Tanzania's classic Northern Circuit with Kenya's Laikipia Plateau. You start with elephants and baobabs in Tarangire, the Rift Valley at Lake Manyara and a full day in Ngorongoro Crater, then cross into Kenya for four days of conservation-led safari in Laikipia. Activities there go beyond game drives to include walking safaris, night drives and community visits. Stays are long and the driving is balanced, so it suits repeat safari travellers, nature lovers and active couples.

Arrive in Arusha
Your guide meets you at Kilimanjaro International Airport and takes you to your lodge or hotel in Arusha. Dinner is included.

You drive to Tarangire National Park. In the afternoon you take a game drive among the elephant herds and baobab trees.

Tarangire → Lake Manyara
You drive to Lake Manyara National Park for an afternoon game drive beneath the Rift Valley escarpment.

Lake Manyara → Ngorongoro
The morning is free, or you can take an optional cultural visit. You then drive up into the Ngorongoro highlands.

You descend into the crater early for a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch. You return to the lodge in the late afternoon.

You drive back to Arusha in the morning. The afternoon is free to rest and get ready for the border crossing.

You leave early for the Kenya–Tanzania border. After the border formalities, which we handle for you, you drive north to Laikipia and settle into your safari lodge.

Before You Book
Good to Know
- Border day: Day 8 is a long travel day. You leave Arusha early, cross the border and drive north to Laikipia, so expect to arrive late.
- Wildlife: Sightings can't be guaranteed. Laikipia is a quieter region with different wildlife from the Northern Circuit.
- Fitness: Easy to moderate. Game drives are in a 4×4 and walks in Laikipia are guided. Night drives and walking safaris depend on each conservancy's rules.
- Flights: Fly into Kilimanjaro International Airport and out of Nairobi. Both flights are your own and aren't included.
- Visas: You need visas for Tanzania and Kenya. Requirements depend on your nationality, so check before you travel.
- Health: Malaria prophylaxis is strongly recommended, so see a travel clinic before you go. Also check yellow fever requirements for your route. Travel and medical insurance is strongly advised.
- Where you'll stay: Midrange lodges, camps and hotels. Upgrades are possible on request.
